Dr. Chandra Patel’s Canberra Dermapen Australia Sydney plastic surgery practice offers surgical facial and body enhancement procedures, and also non-surgical alternatives for patients who desire a less invasive treatment with little or no downtime. They have found that Dermapen is the ideal treatment for these patient perameters. The Dermapen® skin needling procedure is a needle-based dermabrasion treatment designed to combat wrinkles, acne scars, and stretch marks, among other aesthetic conditions.

Dermapen uses a tiny grouping of very fine micro-needles to achieve cosmetic results that, according to Dr. Patel, can have longer lasting effects than injectables and fillers. Lindy Patel, a registered nurse skin rejuvenation expert, performs the Dermapen® treatments, has experienced that the results of Dermapen last up to 2 years, while many popular injectable wrinkle reduction treatments last only up to about 6 months. In addition, Patel says Dermapen® uses an updated needling method that is often less traumatic for the skin and more comfortable for the patient than some of the needling methods used in the past.

According to the recent article, “Skin Needling: More Than Just A Wrinkle Treatment,” Dr. Patel explains how Dermapen treatments work. “Through the use of ultra-fine needles, we are able to trigger the body’s natural healing process, causing the generation of new collagen and elastin,” he says. “The result can be healthier, smoother, younger-looking skin.” The adjustable depth of needle penetration is what allows Dermapen to be used for a variety of treatments. The method of controlled wounding prompts the body to return to the healing phase, Dr. Patel says Dermapen can also be used as an effective way to treat mild scars. The micro-needling technique breaks up the dense collagen fibers of scar tissue and repositions them, which can help to reduce the appearance of the scar.

Depending on how aggressive the patient and practitioner decide to treat, the Dermapen treatment takes 30-60 minutes to complete. Within 3 days, Dr. Patel says evidence of treatment should subside, if not completely disappear. Patients should see results developing in the treatment area 6-8 weeks after treatment, as the collagen and elastin rebuild. For most skin conditions, the Canberra plastic surgeon recommends patients have 3-4 Dermapen® treatments performed to optimize results. “If you are seeking a non-surgical method of addressing your skin concerns,” says Dr. Patel, “Dermapen® is often a quick and cost-effective way to achieve smoother skin.”
