Compassion Break

I needed one. ☝🏽 Sometimes I think I'm too sensitive for this world haha, but I spoke to someone who reminded me that this sensitivity can actually be a gift. Thank you to this person. I hope to one day see it this way versus as a flaw to be erased.

This is a short blog. Before I post part 3 next week (update: pushed to 3/14, I feel called to go within before posting for some reason. Thank you for understanding!🙏🏽☺️), I wanted to share some words I needed to hear quite literally everyday. Since I don't know what weight you're carrying on your shoulders (or have been for some time now), I wanted to share this message with you too. There's little commentary and multiple poorly lit/poor quality images.😅 (in case it's hard to read, I added the words too. I might come back to edit them.)

You look in the mirror and see yourself, but really, it's not you at all. I mean there's your eyes and your nose and your cute little smile, but that's not all there is to you.

Because you're not seeing the amount of lives you've touched with your presence. You're not seeing all the people you've made smile 😁 and laugh. You're not seeing how strong you are. In fact, all the battles you've overcome are completely invisible when you look in the mirror, hidden beneath your outside features.

So, my darling, listen to me when I say this: you are not as simple as a reflection. You are complex, wonderful and something brilliant that a mirror simply does not have the capability to show. It's only showing one tree in the forest, one star in a galaxy, one grain of sand at the beach. And you are so much more than that. Please believe it.

"Cultivate Solidity"

You are somebody; you are something. You are a positive factor for your family, for society, for the world. You have to recover yourself, to be yourself. You have to become solid again. You can practice solidity in everyday life. Every step, every breath you take should help you become more solid. When you have solidity, freedom is there too.

-Thich Nhat Hanh

My friend sent me a screen shot of Sebene Selassie's newsletter. I have swiftly signed up. But she sent this after our check-in where I signed off saying "Don't let this world break your spirit." She responded, "They can't sandy. They can't." The point of her sending this screenshot was because she said this is what she meant by "they can't."

I'll just copy the lyrics, but please sign up for Sebene's newsletter and/or visit her site to learn more!

The joy that I have

The world didn't give it to me

The joy that I have

The world didn't give it to me

The joy that I have

The world didn't give it to me

The world didn't give it

The world can't take it away

-Shirley Caesar

Don't let this world break your spirit please. I'm trying to not let it break mine.🤸🏽‍♀️
